Employee custom role FAQ
How do I setup a role?
Roles allow you to identify a set of rules which can be applied to an employee user. In the event that you would like to grant specific permissions to one of your employees, you would use this feature to create a role, and then assign it to that employee.
-
Navigate to Account settings
-
Select "Employees & Users"
-
Scroll down to "User roles"
-
Select "Create a new role"
-
Name the role
-
Select permissions you would like the user to have
-
Save
Once the role is created, you must assign the role to the user on the employee & users page by selecting the role from the user level drop down.
Why is it essential restricting access to certain functionalities?
Mainly for security reasons and to avoid overwhelming information for someone not familiar with your business. The main types of personalized roles are such as for accounting, cleaning or even for consigned vehicle owners. If you create a new role you can enable or disable a certain feature entirely or you can enable/disable users to create/ update / delete information.
How to start with a new type of custom role?
We always recommend to think first about the features that your users will require. Then go to your account settings under employee user and select the button "Create a new role"
